Pair of vintage postcards revealing some conventional costumes of the Carnival in Perfume in Germany. The cards must be from the fifties, are actual pictures and were never sent.
Carnival in Cologne is practically as old as the history of the city itself. Since 1823 the & quot; & quot; Rote Funken & quot; have actually been taking part in the Carnival of Cologne and are thus an important part of it. Their uniforms stand for the attire of the city soldiers of Perfume pair of centuries earlier. They were creative sufficient to prevent the only possible operation against Napoleon’s troops by surrendering quietly to the French Revolutionists. The explicit non-military impression of the & quot; & quot; Rote Funken & quot; hence has a historical background. The same impression chooses their rather uncommon dance & quot; & quot; Stippeföttchen & quot;. Here the previous city soldiers of Cologne stand in coupled with their butts rubbing against each other. This works as an option to all the actual belligerent armies around the world, revealing them how to invest their time more joyfully. See postcard 1.
Emphasize of this routine dance is the dance of & quot; & quot; Funkenmariechen & quot;, little Mary as a dancing girl putting on the attire of a & quot; & quot; Marketenderin & quot; (sutler) going back to that time. This Funkenmarie outfit in red-white color combination consists of a coat, a brief skirt and a hat with marabou trimming in the design of a guard uniform. The particular aspect of a & quot; & quot; Funkenmarie & quot; or, also called & quot; Tanzmarie & quot;& quot;, is her acrobatic dancing. See postcard 2.
