8 Vintage Costume Postcards – Carnival – Europe by P8iosities

Eight vintage postcards showing some conventional costumes of Carnival in Europe. One card needs to be from prior to WWII, the other cards are from the sixties, seventies and eighties (3 cards have actually been postally utilized).
The first two cards are from Douai in Belgium; they show the giants Jacquot, Fillon, Binbin and their dad Gayant. The 3rd card shows the Antroido Carnival at Viana do Bolo in the province of Ourense in Galicia, Spain. The 4th card is the oldest card, it’s an actual photograph, most likely taken in the city of Monreal in the Eifel mountains in Germany. The next two cards are from Austria; the Drummer Dames at Aussee in Salzkammergut, and the Giant Samson Parade at Mautendorf in Salzburg. The seventh card shows the Boys Cortège at the Carnival in Basel in Switzerland. The last card shows the Foal Procession at Pezenas in Languedoc in France.
