  • Reviews

  • “I agree wholeheartedly with ChefWantABe.This tastes NOTHING like A-1.No spicy kick, no saltiness, not even the deep brown color.I’d love to hear from those that gave this 5 stars and see what they did differently, if anything. I only gave this one star since it was so easy to fix.”

  • “I thought this sauce was very orange-y like and although it was good it didn’t taste like A-1.I see how some of the points were reminiscent of A-1 it needed more of a savory/salty note.Would be a great sauce for dipping. The two stars is because it tasted good but lacked being of A-1..ness.”

  • “Way too much orange zest and no kick, But I did get the color and texture, If you have none of the ingredients handy just go out and buy a bottle, It would be cheaper !”

  • “Okay, I have read these reviews and also the ingredient list.I DO WHOLEHEARTEDLY believe that this may be a very viable recipe…for HEINZ 57 sauce…not A-1.I think the author has confused her numbers here.I call this a beautiful landing…at the wrong airport. If you are looking for Heinz 57, this may be the one you’re looking for, but I found NOTHING in the ingredient list to lead me to believe you will get anything remotely resembling A-1 from this.”

  • “I use A1 sauce all the time and it is so expensive. Now I can make it at half the cost! This is great tasting and easy to prepare too!You can add some Kitchen Bouquet to the sauce to darken it up if you like!”

  • “This is amazingly close to the store bought A1 sauce, so close I can’t tell the difference. Thanks for sharing this recipe.”

  • “I used to love A1 when I lived in the US. I can’t find it here in Mex. but now it doesn’t matter because this comes pretty close to it! Thank you Heidi for posting this recipe! 🙂 Made for Bevy Tag.”

  • “I have never tasted A1 steak sauce, or I don’t remember. But this one tastes very good on steak.I used corinthe raisins. Thanks Heidi.Made for Beverage tag.”
