  • “Sat. night is my hamburger night and tonight I had”Andrew’s spicy” Just excellent, nice blend of flavors that give you a warm comfort but does not set you on fire.I didn’t add the onions because I always have a slice of raw sweet onion on the burger along with tomatoe& Aged Cheddar on a jalapeno bun.(recipe#22903) see comments on this Jalapeno Bread. Thank-you for a great burger night.”

  • “I made these for Zaar Cookathon/4th of July. WOW!! This is one incredible burger. The mix of spices was different for us but really very tasty. I liked the red onions, also. Served on grilled buns with a variety of condiments and of course cheese. Thanks for a terrific recipe.”

  • “Wonderful combination of flavours.I omitted the curry as my family are not big curry fans and upped the cayenne a tad.I served on a toasted Kaiser with lettuce, salsa, and Monterey Jack cheese.I will definately make again. The onion flavour was great. Thanks for sharing!”

  • “Burger night at our house, all the reviews sounded so good, this one fit the menu beautifully!!The reviews were all right, they were as good as predicted. Didn’t change anything except to cut the recipe in half. The spices melded together to make a very tasty burger, we enjoyed the spicyness of the curry, quite different for a hamburger!! We used slices of French bread instead of buns and piled on tomato slices, dill pickle, sharp cheddar, dejong mustard and served them with salad greens.Very good!!Thanks for sharing!!”

  • “Well I am definitely not spice-intimidated so I just had to try this burger. Fabulous, just fabulous. Yes, it was an unusual mix of spices but Zikes!!, we sure liked it. These burgers had a very lively and intensely spicy flavor. We served on onion rolls with Cheddar and MJ cheese. Thanks Friedel and Andrew.”

  • “YUM!I pre-mixed this for a camping weekend. We ate the burgers the first night (rave reviews from all) and cooked the leftovers the next morning with potatoes and eggs, and made grilled pocket-sandwiches with them for breakfast.Very tasty both times! Our thanks to you and Andrew; this is a great addition to our burger lineup.”

  • “Wow! What a burger! This recipe is great for a hot day ‘cuz you don’t have to turn on the grill or stove; this combination of spices will make the burger self-cooking!Seriously, this burger delivers flavor with a kick to it.Make sure you mix it thoroughly to prevent biting into a concentration of spices. Not for the spice-intimidated.I can’t wait to cook it again.”

  • “Ay c’mon this is a really good spicy burger. I have used this recipe so many times & it is always good. We do like spicy/chilli so I add extra of whatever I have or something to make a slight difference such as chipotles for an added smokey flavour. Whatever, this is a good burger as it is, many thanks Andrew.”

  • “We don’t like things too spicy at our house so I cut the curry in half (used mild) and used about 1/3 of the cayenne. That was just about right for us as far as the heat level, but we just didn’t really enjoy the flavor overall. Sorry, not a ‘make again’ for us.”

  • “I’m so sorry to Andrew, I really wanted to like these as I love burgers and love curry. The taste was way too strong and overpowering in a not good way, the flavors did not seem to go well together and it was really spicy where you could not taste the meat, just the spices(due to the large amount of cayenne). The only thing I did different was to use regular mild curry powder, but I can’t see that making a huge difference in the overall product. Sorry, but we will not save leftovers and will not make again.”

  • “Great Burger Recipe. We simply loved the flavor combinations! The curry really gave it a great pick me up! Everything really went together well. Thanks Sackville for a great dinner!”

  • “We really enjoyed these, although I did make some changes that significantly altered the recipe. I didn’t use a spicy curry powder, just the grocery store yellow (mild) curry powder. I also completely omitted the cayenne because I discovered I was out. Therefore, my burgers were not “spicy” at all. In addition, I didn’t add any onions, in part because I have onion haters in my family, and in part because I was afraid they would make the burgers fall apart (I didn’t have any breadcrumbs on hand to help correct that.) With the changes, this was absolutely a 5-star combination that I would do again. I am not sure if I will try making the recipe exactly as written or not. Thank you Sackville (and to Andrew) for the inspiration.”

  • “Very good burger! My husband enjoyed this .. I got 8 servings out of this recipe .. thanks!”

  • “Simply the best burgers I have ever made.Even my kids loved these.”

  • “Great combination of spices.I cut down on the cayenne, but added a horseradish sauce when serving. This is a winner.”
