Art in Action at Art Basel Wynwood

Wynwood. Is. Electric.
That’s all there is to it. This undeniable pocket of energy in Miami was once a land full of abandoned warehouses, neglected factories, and other unused and closed buildings. Today it is home to over 70 art galleries, antique stores, and eclectic cafes. Oh, and did I mention one of the largest open-air street art installations in the world? This transformed district is one of the most prominent and creative communities in the world today. During my time in Miami, I took a day off from the beach to explore the area and to soak up the bright colors, patterns and art. I walked up and down the colorful blocks, watching graffiti artists as they created building-size murals right before my eyes. Some were up on ladders, while others were crouched on the ground, meticulously guiding their spray paint can. The art that lines these Wynwood streets is stop-you-in-your-tracks bold, daring… electric.
