At Home With Radio Amy

At Home With Radio Amy

While in Nashville, we had the pleasure of meeting Amy, a co-host of the popular Bobby Bones Show.  Amy recently joined FP Me but was unable to participate in our shoot, so we made a special visit to her East Nashville home.  Read on to get to know Amy and take a little peek inside her beautiful abode!

Where do you get design inspiration for your home?

I’ve never been a fan of matchy-matchy. I love going to flea markets, stalking Etsy or hitting up little unique shops to find things. My ADD affects several areas in my life, including my home, so that leads to unfinished rooms at times! However, I like to think it adds character?! I can’t ever decide where I like what, so no room is safe. I move furniture around a lot. My husband loves this. I mean, hates this. We’ve been in our home a year and I keep telling him I just need one more year to find a few certain pieces and then we can maybe start hanging things on the walls (an official commitment!) We shall see if I fulfill that year timeline.

How long have you been in Radio and what do you love most about it?

I’ve been in radio 8 years and the one thing I absolutely love about my job is that I work with friends! I couldn’t imagine being on a morning show with people I wasn’t close to. There’s no way I could fake that!!! I feel fortunate to work with the people I do. We laugh, we cry, we play, and we fight. We’re actually more like a little dysfunctional family, but it works.

Describe a day in the life of Amy.

My alarm goes off between 3:45 and 4am. Much to my husband’s dismay, I will for sure press snooze a few times (even though everything I read says that’s counterproductive). Every workday is a little bit different time wise, but one thing is for sure: we’re on air from 5am – 10am! My day will almost always include a quick yoga class at my neighborhood studio and if its not raining, my dog WILL get walked. She’s an 8-year-old Rottie that acts like a 2-year-old puppy, so walks are a must. We have a few cozy coffee shops within walking distance from my house, so I often hit one of those up to catch up with a friend or work on my show prep for the next day!!! I really wish I could say that I spend hours cultivating my vegetable garden, but I’d be lying, as that is just a dream of mine. Maybe one day.

Who or what inspires you the most?

My mom. She is the ultimate example of grace.

What draws you to Free People?

The flowy. The lace. The layers. The femininity. The rugged. The floral. The uniqueness. The quality. The shoes. The accessories. The vegan leather jackets!!!!!! I could go on and on.

What are three words that describe your personal style?

Hmmmm…. three words???? My co-workers would say I only need two words: Free. People. Ha! Listeners will sit in on the show or we will be at an event and I’ll get asked what I’m wearing and before I can get a word out of my mouth, Bobby will yell: “FREE PEOPLE!” He knows me well.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

Hot lemon water. First thing in the morning. Every morning.

What does free mean to you?

Choosing joy.

Can you tell us a little bit about your charity?

Our non-profit is called TEEMHaiti. The mission is to teach, empower, equip, and mentor the people of Haiti.  The charity works with men, women, and children to provide hope and encouragement with the goal of impacting the future by investing in people and making a lasting change. My husband and I are currently in the process of adoption two kids from the orphanage TEEMHaiti supports!
