  • About This Recipe

“With the warm weather coming I was searching for a different burger recipe. I first thought this sounded really odd with rolled oats in the ingredients but combining it with milk makes for a moist pattie with a great texture. I made a few small changes to a recipe I found in the cookbook All Fired Up”

    Ingredients

  • 1lblean ground beef
  • 1smallonion, minced
  • 1egg, beaten
  • 1/3 cuprolled oats
  • 1tablespoonsteak sauce
  • 2tablespoonsmilk
  • fresh ground pepper
  • Directions

  • In bowl combine ingredients.
  • Shape into 4 equal burgers, putting finger indentation almost through burger in the middle of each pattie-Do not over handle meat- usually meat is done when the indentation in center is filled in.
  • Place on preheated grill and cook about 5 min.
  • per side or until no longer pink.
  • Garnish as desired.

  • “Instead of steak sauce (which is good) try adding 1/4 cup Coke and 3 tbls. french dressing. Skip the milk.”

  • “These burgers live up to their name!I think they would also make great meatballs, too.”

  • “They were pretty good..I will probably make them again some time…”

  • “Super awesome! Even better reheated a few days later, even the “we don’t like onions” kids ate them up!”

  • “Good stuff, even with turkey burger. I love the little trick with the indentation in the middle, which seemed to work just fine. I used spicy salsa instead of steak sauce just because I had a little bit leftover from something else and wanted to use it up. Just yummy. Nice recipe. Thanks.”

  • “This reminded me of meatloaf in texture and taste. Was worried they’d be yucky on a bun, but with all the trimmings, they were great. Made substantial burgers, patties held up well when formed and grilled.I doubled the recipe to feed a crowd.Needed a little salt.Thanks.”

  • “Very tasty burger, love the rolled oats in them. I used chilli sauce as I had no steak sauce. Easy and quick, I made 4 patties from them, we ate 2 and froze 2 for a quick supper down the road. Thanks for sharing a keeper!! — Sep 17, 2005Update ~ we had the other two patties for supper tonight out of the freezer, another good burger Saturday night!!”

  • “Awesome Burgers are awesome. The only change I made was I put the rolled oats through the food processor. If I’d left them whole, dd wouldn’t have eaten the burgers.Very moist, very taste.Definitely for people like me who like to taste the meat instead of alot of seasoning.”
