Banana Cookies (With Dates and Nuts)
About This Recipe
“Yummy cookies!! Great when you have leftover bananas that are too soft to eat .. they smell heavenly while baking, and keep well in the fridge … I don’t add the nuts, but you can if you like ..”

“These cookies turned out to be very dense for me . . . probably because I do not measure as exact as I should. However, they are delicious as is and will freeze well to make breakfast cookies.”
“Great recipe – used pecan nuts as they’re great with bananas! Discovered I’d run out of dates so used dried cranberries. Thanks Najwa!Update: this time I used dates and macademia nuts, made 25 & sold all of them in aid of a charity. Brilliant recipe!!”
“Excellent cookie. Will definately make again. The banana, oats, dates and nuts make it a really nutritious treat. Used pecans and double the cinnamon. Made 3 dozen smaller cookies. Thanks for sharing.”
“Fabulous!! These were exactly what i was looking for. They are tender and the perfect consistency. I used butter flavored crisco and creamed that with the sugar til fluffy before adding the eggs. I also combined all the dry before adding, finally stirring in 1 3/4 cup oatmeal and probably 2/3 cup of chopped pecans and a generous cup of dates. These would be good with a dab of chocolate frosting…although i’ll leave them alone…this time! These will be added to my fav’s list – thanks!”
“These were far tastier than I had hoped for!I used two mushed bananas, more like 1 3/4 cup oatmeal, and a little less sugar than called for. They came out fantastic, rather like little bites of banana nut muffins!”
“LOVED it.. especially DD and she helped me make it as well! Have made it twice already (forgot to review it the 1st time ). Used brazil nuts for the nuts and followed the recipe as is. I think I got between 20-24 cakes, can’t remember but they were huge (not that I am complaining!). I will be making this more often now since we always have bananas at home. Thank you, Najwa, for sharing this wonderful recipe!”
“I had one small, lonely, mushy banana so I cut this in half – except for the spices – which worked fine. I did add roughly chopped almonds for the nuts. Even with the recipe cut in half I got 28 cookies, which were baked in 8 minutes. I used my melonballer to scoop them out. These are really nice; not too decadent but a nice healthy treat. The dates and banana are sweet enough that the sugar could be reduced a little too make them even healthier. I will try these again with less sugar and also a little less butter and more banana, but they are certainly delicious as-is. “
