  • Reviews

  • “This is the very same recipe I’ve used for years (from the Vancouver Sun). The only exception is that my recipe doesn’t have the raspberry jam in it. It’s excellent without it, but I’m going to make it with the jam next time as I think that would be a nice touch. So, it will be good with or without raspberry jam.”

  • “Not only does this recipe look and taste wonderful, it smells just great when it comes out of the oven.I used a seedless raspberry jam and it was just wonderful. My kids attacked and it didn’t survive the day.”

  • “Made this yesterday, used Royal Gala apples, anmd light cream cheese. It was excellent. The raspberry jam added a wonderful exotic touch to the base.My family throughly enjoyed. This is a keeper.”

  • “Loved this recipe!I followed it exactly, except that my spring form pan was one size larger.didn’t seem to effect the outcome.I arranged the apple slices in a circular pattern, which looked lovely and made the dessert look more professional. I made it for a girl’s night out at my place, and everyone raved about it.”

  • “Amazing!!The only tweak I made was to cook it a little longer so the filling had a chance to set.My father is a certified Master Chef and said this was excellent!”

  • “I made this with brown sugar and minus the raspberry jam…SUPER HIT! Definitely a keeper!”

  • “I thought this was wonderful. My apples (granny smith) turned out a little dry so next time I might try adding butter, but otherwise it was really good.”

  • “I love making different dessert with apples. I am so glad I decided to make this one..I followed recipe except, I didnt have sliced almonds. I had whole almonds, I broke them up a bit with a rolling pin I hammered on them.3 jonsgold apples made 4 cups.I love my apple peeler it peels, cores and slices all the same time..It sure has gotten use this year….This dessert looked so pretty..OMG it taste as good as it looks. The raspberry jam really sets this dessert off..Wonderful served plain or withcoolwhip..I will make this again, also I think I will increase cinnamon to 1 tsp.Thank U for this wonderful apple recipe…”

  • “I found this in a recipe book and made it for Christmas. Everyone loved it. I came here to post and see that bert has already posted it. My recipe didn’t include the raspberry jam so I didn’t use it. Other than that everthing is the same and it is just delicious. Thanks for posting bert!”

  • “This is probably my favourite apple dessert.I believe I got the recipe 27 years ago, and it is still a hit every time I make it…I have even frozen leftovers successfully.”

  • “Delicious ~ everyone loved it! I was concerned about it not setting, or underbaking, so I baked it for about 30 minutes to be sure and then refrigerated it for a few hours before serving. I loved the complexity of all the flavors working together. Thanks a bunch!”

  • “I made this for a potluck. There were lots of wonderful desserts, but this was the star.Everyone raved about it.I will be making this again today to share with even more people.Easy to put together.Looks pretty and tastes delicious!”

  • “A very impressive dessert and the combination of the crispy crust and smooth filling was perfect. It was difficult to tell when it was fully baked because the apples become quite juicy and the 35 minutes was not quite long enough in my oven.As well, I would make the jam layer a little thicker however just writing this review is making my mouth water…delish!”

  • “This recipe has been a family favourite for a number of years. I haven’t tried it with the jam, but it sounds like a great addition. In a hurry, you can make it with a prepared pie crust and a can of applie pie filling. “

  • “Delicious. Easy to put together. When expecting extra guests I like to offer several “can’t resist’ desserts. I didn’t manage to get a taste the first time around! Gets raves everytime I serve it. Now I know to make two when preparing for the dessert tray! Excellent recipe. Gerry 999”

  • “This is an incredible tasting and lovely dessert that is very simple to make. I made it for a gathering of four adults and 3 kids, and only one piece survived the meal. I plan to try some variations with other fruits and jams. You won’t regret trying this recipe.”

  • “Thanks Bert for a great recipe.Everyone thought I had bought this when I brought it out, it looked so “professional”!And SO EASY TO MAKE!!!!!!!!”

  • “This is an excellent tasting and looking dessert. Will certainly make again.”
