  • Reviews

  • “I was really happy with this recipe. I put my kids in an assembly line to roll the cherries. It was a lot of fun! We did a large jar of about 96 cherries and had plenty of dough for all of them in a single batch. I also doubled the shortening in the chocolate coating. Excellent!”

  • “These were pretty good, but I guess I was expecting a liquid center like most chocolate covered cherries have. I read reviews that say they will liquify if left sitting, but it has been about a week.I keep tasting one a day and they still do not have a liquid center, but they do taste good.”

  • “Great! Super yummy and really really easy to make as well.Thankyou for sharing!!”

  • “Now these are great-I had never done them like this and boy are they great–can’t eat many at a time but they are so nice!! Thanks very much”

  • “I ended up having at least half of the fondant left over so I would suggest either making a half recipe of the fondant or buying 2 jars of maraschino cherries. I used Hershey’s Special Dark chips and enough shortening to get the proper dipping consistency. Be sure to cover up the entire cherry in chocolate otherwise, when they sit, the cherry juice starts to seep through the uncovered area. I fixed that by doing a touch up with remelted chocolate.”

  • “These are amazing! I added some coconut to the “dough” and they turned out delicious. I took them to a party at worked and they were wiped out right away. Thanks for such an easy crowd-pleaser!”

  • “We made these for our 2010 holiday tray for family and friends, and these were a huge hit.We tripled the batch and they were loved by all.Thank you for sharing this keeper of a recipe.”

  • “I made these for my dad for his birthday. He said they were great! The grand-kids and kids kept sneaking them. My nephew told me please make these for my birthday present! Definitely a do again must!”

  • “These are really good. This is the third year that my cousin and I have made them together for Valentine’s Day. They are a lot of work but they are really good! Thanks! :D”

  • “Very good! I’m a little slow, so this was very time consuming- but not at all difficult. Besides, everyone loves them! I ended up with waaaay more cherries than this (perhaps I was heavy-handed, or the cherries were small) and switched chocolate halfway through to dark. I must say I much prefer the dark chocolate, and I can’t wait to try them soaked in rum as per Carol Ryan’s suggestion. Thanks so much for posting this!”

  • “You must try this recipe – it is out of this world! The only change I made was to soak the cherries in rum for 2 weeks!! I took a Christmas goodies basket to work and my boss kept going on about the “chocolates” he thought I had bought! I also took them to a New Year’s dinner with the same results!I have my second batch of cherries soaking in rum as we speak!I was able to find cherries with stems at Wal*Mart – won’t that make them seem even more delectable!! I have to say I think this is my favorite recipe from Recipezaar and is fast becoming my signature goodie to make!Thank you so much for sharing!!”
