  • Reviews

  • “This was so good! Very easy to make. The only thing I did to this recipe was increase the cinnamon by 1/2 t in the batter. Couldn’t wait for it to come out of the oven in the morning.”

  • “This was a real pleaser at work when I took it in the morning.I thought the topping made too much, though.Next time, I’ll cut it in half ’cause I had so much left over. Thanks for sharing Michelle.”

  • “Wow, this is delicious! The cake was extremely moist and flavorful. This is the only coffee cake that I have made off of this site that hasn’t been a bland tasting disaster. The whole family had seconds, so that means it’s a winner! I used one of the reviewer’s suggestions and mixed the shortening with the dry ingredients before adding the milk and eggs, and it worked out perfectly. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!”

  • “Easy to make, I baked it right away.At first I put everything in then mixed and saw large globs of shortening yet.So I re-did it and put all of the dry ingredients in with the shortening and mixed then I mixed in the eggs, milk, and other dry ingredients.I used sour milk (lemon juice and milk).”

  • “i subbed applesauce for the shortening but otherwise made this as written. my family loved it. Thanks for the recipe.”

  • “Seriously…people are doing me favors in exchange for this coffee cake or even just the recipe!!!So easy and so delicious!!Thank you Thank you for posting it.”

  • “Amazing coffee cake! I made this coffee cake for Easter brunch and it was quickly gone! I followed the recipe exactly and used pecans….so yummy! I wished there were leftovers. I will definitely make this again.”

  • “I have to say this recipe is a good idea for a coffee cake, but there is far too much sugar topping listed in the recipee.Other reviewers wrote about using less, there should just be less in the recipe for a good review.”

  • “Made this for breakfast and it turned out so nice.Loved the idea of making the night before so all I had to do in the morning was turn on the oven, pop it in and put on the coffee. The only change I made was to cut the recipe in half as it’s only me and DH.It was so easy, moist and a great taste of cinnamon.Would really be nice if you have over-night guest. Thanks MB for posting.”

  • “Super easy! Excellent reviews from my guests. The only ingredient I need to go to the grocery forwas buttermilk. Very nice!”

  • “Just SUPER!Took this coffee cake to work and it didn’t last long! One co-worker said it was the best coffee cake he had ever tasted!Love making it up the night before then just popping it in the oven so it is ready in the morning when I am!HIGH MARKS!!”

  • “Very good coffee cake!I made it and baked it up right away because we just didn’t want to wait.”

  • “Wonderful! The family loves it, it is easy. However, I cut out maybe 1/3 of the crumble mixture and no one seemed to notice. The nexted time I make this I am going to put more of the crumb topping in the middle and just sprinkle the top with it, as my family prefers the gooey inside more than the crunchy topping . thanks for an easy recipe!!”

  • “Wow!We made this and took it to a family gathering. The teens, adults and kids went crazy over it!SO EASY!Thanks for this recipe.”

  • “Made this to sell in our church coffee shop > everyone loved it and they asked me to make it again.”

  • “This makes a great coffee cake. I made it exactly as posted and liked the amount of sweetness. Thanks for a great recipe to use over and over again.”

  • “The ladies at work loved this recipe! I agree with the leftover toppings. Although, I probably could have piled more on in the middle layer. It was so easy to make the night before and bake in the morning. I am now using the extra topping for TOAST as a variation on cinnamon toast. Quite yummy!”

  • “Hi Michelle, this cake is awesome!. It turned out so moist and delicious. I baked mine in a 11″ x 7″, it fit just perfect, also I added 3 eggs instead of two for a fluffier texture, also I added 1-1/4 cups buttermilk instead of 1 cup, cause I wanted to use up what was left in the carton, (I had roughly 1/4 cup extra, so I decided to add it also)….. also, I added 1 cup mini chocolate chips to the cake batter, and I cut the topping ingredients in half, as recommended by Freda….. prepared it in the morning, and baked it in the evening for some company, everyone just loved it, it was a huge success. Thank you Michelle for such a wonderful cake recipe, I will be making this again, soon…this is a keeper! :-)”
