About This Recipe
“This was my absolute favorite frosting when I was growing up. It is so light, fluffy and fat-free too.”

“Without a doubt, the most beautiful frosting I’ve ever made. The consistency is so fluffy it smooths out all my sloppy knife strokes and looks like something out of a magazine! I had to cook/whip mine for about 15 minutes (maybe a few more actually) so it had me worried for a few minutes there. Came out beautifully, though. It’s not as sweet as some other recipes, but it has a lovely flavor, and everyone raved about it. Again, it’s stunningly beautiful–shiny, satiny finish. Will definitely make again.”
“I love this frosting!I still had sugar undissolved after it was beat for 10 minutes, this is probably due to the bowl I had this in.Put this on my son’s 1st birthday cupcakes and had more than enough. Thanks!”
“YUMMY! Thanks for the great recipe.DELICIOUS!”
“OK, this frosting is really, really good!!I used the vanilla extract this time and loved it.I did save some extra (leftover) icing and added almond extract to see if I would like it, and it was wonderful too!!I’m going to try it on my next vanilla cake! Thanks for posting.”
“I have never tried an icing anything like this.I wish I had found it earlier.I used it to decorate Recipe #209764 and it was perfect. Not too sweet, not to bland. Thanks Caryn for a great recipe!”
“This frosting is wonderful.I was looking for an easy recipe for frosting to finish my daughter’s b-day cake and came across this one.It was very easy and I had all the ingredients around the house. It is great!Try this, you won’t be dissapointed!!”
“This is my ALL TIME favorite icing. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I haven’t made it in years but decided I wanted to have it for Easter Dinner. I LOVE it on recipe #12591 (my favorite cake)… ymmmmmm”
“I can’t figure out what I did wrong because I followed the recipe (except for halving the ingredients). It never set up for me, never thickened so it was no where near forming stiff peaks. I beat it and beat it but it never happened.I kept it up for at least 15 minutes. I had to throw it out. I’m not giving any stars so I don’t affect that current rating but it didn’t work at all. Maybe you can’t halve the recipe.”
“My oh my! It was my beloved birthday cake frosting from childhood and is just like the one my mom used to make from a mix that is no longer available. Forget any other 7-minute frosting recipe, this one is just perfect. (And despite the fact it’s cooked, it is worth the effort! I tried the other posted no-cook recipe and threw it out before I put it on the cake – it just didn’t do my cake justice.)”
“Absolutly delicious!I will be using this one a lot.”
“This was easy to make and resulted in a stiff, satiny, frosting that looked beautifull on my cupcakes. After adding the vanilla, I stirred in some food color. And added sprinkles after frosting my cupcakes, there was more than enough frosting for 18 cupcakes”
