FP Me Stylist Of The Week: FPAmber
When I see mountains, a great outfit, and a cool girl all in one picture, it’s a sure bet that inspiration is waiting to be found in the pages of her FP Me profile.
Amber, an assistant visual manager, knows how to set up the scene and show off her personal style. It’s a little bit boho, a little bit southwestern, and a whole lot of cool-girl. When I look through her pics, it takes me back to the time I spent in Colorado, and all the beautiful landscape that I was surrounded by. Then I found out she actually lives in Colorado, and I was only a tiny bit jealous…;)

Where are you from? What was your favorite part about your hometown?
My roots are in Dallas, TX where I was born and raised! My Grandparents are farmers and believers of simple living and I always admired their acceptance of that way of life. There are so many favorite things about my past, I couldn’t narrow them to one! Here are a few of my favorite things from my home town: pets (my favorite being my pot belly pig named Gomez), friends, shopping, dance, a humongous tree house, diversity, and night life.
Can you tell us a little bit about where you live now?
I currently have a home in Lakewood, CO where my heart thrives and growth continues. Nate (my husband) and I took a big step by buying our first home at the foothills of the Rockies! We moved in our two cats, Tetris and Monah and recently adopted a Golden Retriever puppy, Kai! We spend time gardening and enjoying the fire pit in our back yard. We can listen to music from Red Rocks and see the mountains from our deck. The adjustment to this new home took no time at all.

How did you find your way to Free People? What does your current job entail?
I found my way to FP when I heard it opened up in the Cherry Creek Mall (2011) and I knew I had to work there! I started my journey as a stylist in 2010 while I was simultaneously finishing up my Merchandising Management degree at the Art Institute of Denver. Following my graduation in 2012 I was promoted to a FT Visual MIT and then recruited to Aspen as their AVM.
I am the currently the Assistant Visual Manager of FP Denver. My work is like Christmas morning on a day to day basis! Remember when you were young and you had a large chest of clothes to play dress up with? Now imagine that with endless amounts of Free People clothing and accessories… that’s my job.

If you could describe your style in three words, what would they be?
Autumn morning simplicity.

Do you think your surrounding environment has a lot to do with the way you dress?
Absolutely! Since I come from a multi-cultural background, I find that my style changes based on my current influences. In Denver, I typically dress more eclectic. A high-waisted skirt with a crop top, southwestern kimono, and a pair or leopard booties is edgy and fashionable. In Dallas, I dress casual to country: flannel shirt, cutoff shorts and a classic white tee. Accessorizing is my favorite part of my outfit regardless of where I am.

I’m mildly jealous of all of your mountain top FP Me pics, it looks like you have some pretty incredible landscape around you! Where are some of your favorite places to snap photos for your profile?
That’s simple, the mountains! Recently I’ve fallen in love with Lookout Mountain in Golden, CO. It’s a 15 minute hike to heaven but there are so many. Some of my favorites are: Red Rocks, Steamboat, Green Mountain, and St. Mary’s Glacier. A few of my FP Me pictures are taken by my good friend Luke Gottlieb who is a professional photographer. If you could have one weekend to go wherever you wanted, and do whatever you wanted to do, what would it look like?
A turquoise beach with a nice surf! Take for example Hawaii fused with Bora Bora. Yes, please.

What is one thing you are willing to share that most people don’t know about you?
That my grandpa was the GM of the Fort Worth stock yards in Texas. I’m from a long line of cowboys, ranchers, and farmers. Yeehaw!

What inspires you the most?
I’d give kudos to my husband for my energy and inspiration. He loves to love and enjoys me for who I am. Could I ask for more? 🙂
What does being “free” mean to you?
Free means many things~ Self expression…forgiveness…choices…love…confidence…enjoying life to its fullest. If there’s one thing I could give to every person in the world, it would be a piece of “free.”
