Her long dark locks and tan skin give her a striking appearance, but she has a quiet and soft way about her that is intriguing. I had a feeling FP Me user Sharon was going to be a great model in FP Me Chicago shoot, but you never really know until the camera comes out. I have to say, she made my job quite easy.
From getting to know a little bit more about Sharon, she has a wild heart and loves to be surrounded by nature. Her FP Me profile gives a hint or two, judging from her pictures filled with palm trees and shore lined cliffs. Where are you from? How did this shape the person who you are today?
I was raised in the quiet suburb of Burr Ridge, Illinois. I spent most of my childhood playing in the forest in my backyard. I grew to be a nature lover and enjoy spending time in the outdoors. I loved being outside instead of being cooped up in a small house with a big family.

How would you describe your personal style?
It is important for me to be dressed comfortably. I have a carefree style that expresses simplicity as well as my individuality. I love flowy dresses and clothing that I can throw on with ease and still feel confident in. I am not afraid to wear something different or to wear something that other people are not used to or familiar with. For me, it is most important that I feel good in what I am wearing and to keep my look natural. I will always wear whatever style I am intrigued by.

You just took part in our FP Me Chicago shoot. Was there a favorite moment or part of the day that you loved the most?
Spending time with awesome girls was definitely my favorite part. I got to meet some interesting people and make new friends. I like to observe people with different cultures and style. It makes me appreciate diversity and see the beauty in everyone from diverse backgrounds.

When we chatted at the shoot, I learned that you are a happily married woman! What’s your favorite thing about being married?
Having someone to experience life with! We have both encourage each other to be the best versions of ourselves. It’s the best feeling, knowing that I have someone who loves me unconditionally and who will always be there for me, and I for him 🙂

Give me a typical day in the life of Sharon…
Most of my days are spent with my family. Since I have such a big family, I’m used to having a lot of people around me. My husband travels for work and I stay at my parents house while he’s gone. We try to stay as active as possible and spend as much time outdoors as we can. We try to bike ride, hike and fish as often as possible, and since I have so many younger siblings we have to get creative with different activities.

I noticed you have a few tattoos. What are they and what do they mean?
The tattoo on my back I got in Moorea, an island off of Tahiti. That is where my husband and I honeymooned. We both got our first tattoos together. I told the artist that I wanted it to symbolize happiness and a blessed marriage. I love it because it is one of a kind, and personalized for me! I have another tattoo on my ankle. I got that with two of my sisters. It is three lines that signifies three sisters and a “D” at the end which stands for my maiden name, “DeHelean”. I got this before changing my last name, just cause we always wanted a sister tattoo!

You have amazing hair—do you do anything specific to it to keep it looking so healthy? Any special products that you use?
I usually wash my hair every third day. I read about this “no poo movement” which basically means no shampoo! I use only conditioner and wash it twice. This method leaves my hair soft with no frizz. I do shampoo it maybe once a month to get rid of any buildup. I don’t use styling products, blow dryers, straighteners, curlers ect. Natural, healthy hair is the best hair!

Where do you find inspiration?
Travel! I love learning about different cultures and seeing how simply others live. I love island living – it’s carefree, fun, and extremely relaxing. If I could choose, my life would be like the movie “Blue Lagoon”.
Any end of summer travel plans coming up?
I’m taking a trip to Mackinaw city and Mackinac island in northern Michigan this weekend! My entire family is driving together as a last getaway before the kids start school and before the weather changes. In September me and my hubby are going to SoCal for our anniversary to spend time together and visit some good friends.
What does being ‘free’ mean to you?
To me, it means being allowed to express myself while being relaxed and spending time in nature. It means stepping outside, taking a walk through the woods with no shoes on, mud between my toes, breathing fresh air. Free is letting go of stress and enjoying my life with those around me.
