  • “I doubled this and it worked out to 13 ziplock baggies with 1/3 cup of mix each. The only thing I did differently is I omitted the chicken bouillon granules at first, and then added 1/2 tsp to each bag after separated. I only did this to further cut down on sodium. I made up a serving today for a casserole and it tasted great! Thanks for such a great and healthy alternative!”

  • “I prefer not to have the canned stuff so this is a great alternative.Thank you!”

  • “This was not good at all, sorry. I found it to be inedible. There are a number of similar recipes for this on food.com to which this review applies.”

  • “Oh, terrific stuff.I used it in some little shrimp pot pies for my freezer, which I haven’t had in ages because the recipes all seem to want canned soup and/or heavy cream. This has solved that dilemma for me in a big way.Zippy and flavorful, and totally convenient to mix together. Thanks a ton, Mille.”

  • “This is GREAT!I had to use regular milk, fresh sauteed onions and chicken soup base as subs, but I will be trying the recipe as is when I gather the ingredients. It’ll be so nice to have this on hand. This is so much better than canned. Thanks for the recipe!”

  • “Another great item to have that I got from the Zaar! Cream of chicken is N/A here so this is really a life and time saver! I used it in a corn chowder instead of the milk. Thanks for sharing!”

  • “Used this in a casserole and did not reconstitute it first.Great to know it is better for us and still gives that flavor needed in such things. Thanks for sharing!”

  • “I thought I had a can of cream of chicken soup and I was making Recipe #153599. I made this up and used it. It had a good taste to it but it was rather thin. I have the remaining mix so will play with it a bit next time I need it for a recipe.”

  • “this is awesome! i always keep a supply of this in my pantry now. it is so convenient to use (once it is made) and i can control how much i want to use – a little more or less than a can is no problem! and i feel so much better feeding this to my family. thanks a bunch, Mille®!”

  • “This worked out beautifully for me.So glad I finally tried it.However, for our family’s own preferences, I won’t be adding the thyme to future batches. Not that I didn’t like the flavor, just that the thyme didn’t really go well with the Asian flavor of the dish I was making.Think I’ll leave it out and add to separate dishes as needed. Thanks so much.”

  • “It’s a little more work than just opening a can, but I feel so much better about using it!Thanks for sharing!”

  • “This is a great, healthy substitute.I used this to make recipe 31656, The Best Ever Crock Pot Lemon Pepper Chicken.I was able to find instant chicken bouillon powder (Wyler’s) that is salt free.I didn’t have any nonfat dry milk powder, but I had everything else, so I omitted it and used skim milk with the soup substitute to make the gravy. My recipe turned out excellent. Thanks for this healthy alternative.”

  • “Thanks so much for posting this recipe.I am recovering from a heart attack and am revamping my recipes for no or very low sodium diet restriction and this recipe will be invaluable for all those yummy winter crock pot meals and casseroles for the holidays.”

  • “Thanks so much for sharing this! I use cream soups fairly routinely, and with the low-fat varieties reaching nearly $1 per can, I’m really happy to have a cost-effective substitute. Plus, this version worked great in a casserole recipe recently. Thanks again!”

  • “This was so easy and made such a yummy addition to Recipe #126137. When my 9 month old son wanted a bite I didn’t hesitate because of all the junk in canned soups. Hooray! I made half a batch and put it in a mason jar for storage…I’m sure I will keep refilling with whole batches as needed! Thanks so much for posting! Made for Healthy Choices 2008.”

  • “This is amazing, I can’t believe I’ve been paying for the canned stuff all this time. From now on this will always be in my pantry.I used onion powder and loved it that way.It worked perfect in my chicken and rice casserole.Thank you!”

  • “This was awesome! I was halfway into making dinner when I realized the can of cream of chicken soup I thought was in the pantry had been used. Zaar saved me a trip to the store. It worked absolutely great. The only thing I will probably change next time is they thyme because I discovered my family doesn’t particularly care for it. I will definitely be using this instead of the expensive & unhealthy canned versions.”

  • “WOW!This is a keeper.I put the water and dry mix together into a Tupperware gravy shaker and then cooked/whisked together until thick; then used in a casserole recipe.Don’t think I will ever purchase the canned stuff again (sorry Campbells!!).Thanks for posting.”

  • “I needed cream of chicken soup for a crockpot recipe and I knew I didn’t have any,so I came to “Zaar” to do a search. And came across this recipe, cut it down to make just one can. Worked great for the recipe that it was needed for. R.I.P. Miller. :)”
