5 & quot; square * 32pp. Here’s the review from papertrailzinedistro.com: i do not even know the length of time nicole & clutch have been writing these annual comic journal zines together. five years? six years? this is the most recent edition, covering the first 2 weeks of might 2007. & quot; & quot; clutch & quot; is in fact a daily comic diary zine, using 4 panels & very simple animation line drawings depicting the existential realities of the author. my sweetheart likes the trousers off & quot; & quot; clutch, & quot; & He sat with me & read this new split the 2nd it was available in, laughing out loud the whole time. the author does little but read comic books, feel helpless, & lay around in bed, but somehow makes everything hilarious, generally by virtue of pithy philosophical one-liners that are even funnier coming out of the mouths of rubber-limbed animation characters. example: & quot; & quot; oh,’ spiderman 3,’why did you suck so bad & quot;& quot;? (Protaganist is detailed lying in bed, wearing glasses). nicole’s drawing design is more complex & photo-realistic. she in fact draws the patterns of people’s clothes & the light shining off their hair. her comic design is likewise more complicated, as she draws boxes on top of boxes, with boxes of text describing the images, & some of her daily diaries are one page long while others are two or 3 pages. the very first couple of days portray the tail-end of her experiences on the sis spit ramblin ‘roadshow tour, sleeping in the automobile, interactions with randomoids at the tour events, eating dinner. may 6 & 7 report on the tragi-comic crisis of trying to return the home of portland, & the last half of the zine mainly focuses on nicole’s drama with her former housemate jorge, whom she abhors a lot that she can just stand to draw him as a giant, evil carrot. she combats with jorge, uncovers his fiendish plot to steal cash from her & mistreat her canines, buy shoes, & delight in torment for a little while. i always love these splits! clutch & nicole have extremely various drawing styles & really different lives, but their comics are both so amusing & true at the very same time. yay!
