New Heights: FP Me Utah Unplugged Part II

A propeller plane ride above Canyonlands National Park, a hike miles into The Arches, a dinner by lantern light, and a morning yoga session under an open-aired tepee structure. Could it get any better?

Last week we gave you a peek into our most recent FP Me trip, Utah Unplugged in Moab. We shared photos from the dinner we had under a canvas roof served by Ramblin’ Rose Cafe and now we’d like to give you a look into what led up to that wonderful dinner. Where, oh where, do we start?

Ok, we’ll start with the plane rides. I have never done anything that was so exhilarating, magnificent and beautiful at the same time. Fourteen FP me customers met us at Red Tail Aviation for an hour long scenic plane ride over Canyonlands where we were privy to views I’ve only imagined. The Green River snaked in and out and all around the canyons, plateaus stood so high it felt as though we could land the tiny plane on them. Each plane was small, only sitting six, but each of us had a window seat while our pilot talked about the history of this incredible land. It was breathtaking to say the least.

Ah yes, and then the hiking. The Arches National Park is one of the most beautiful regions in the world. As United State Park Service says, “visit Arches and discover a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures unlike any other in the world. The park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. This red rock wonderland will amaze you with its formations, refresh you with its trails, and inspire you with its sunsets.” After a shaded picnic lunch under the trees, we headed up the trail and into Utah’s ancient earth. We scaled rocks, jumped off boulders and took it all in while standing miles high, the breeze in our hair.

After our hike, we headed back to camp at Moab Under Canvas to shower the red rock off of our skin and get to know each other around the dinner table and campfire. The next morning, after a crazy (CRAZY) thunderstorm — rain, howling wind, lightning, booming thunder — the sky opened up to a gloriously bright  sun and quick moving white fluffy clouds. We met under a large tepee structure for a morning session of yoga with our instructor, Alissa. After an hour long practice, we took a moment in this grand place called Moab to contemplate the previous 24 hours being unplugged.  It was quite emotional and spiritual — a perfectly relaxing ending to our time in this vast desert land.
