  • “What a pleasant change from regular mashed potatoes. I substituted butter flavored margarine and it came out deeeeelicious. Since my family likes garlic, I sauteed some of the onions with garlic and added at the end.”

  • “Loved the onion in these and loved the idea of throwing the onions in with the potatoes while cooking. Thanks for sharing this delish recipe. Made for I Recommend Tag.”

  • “Although I’m not a lover of mash, DH is, so every now and then I make it as a treat!!!This was a lovely way toprepare it, and we enjoyed mash with mushroom gravy and pies, yum, his favourite meal 🙂 Thanks for sharing a lovely recipe!”

  • “I made these tonight to accompany Recipe #280286 and my, were they delish! It is amazing how much flavor a few onions can add. I didn’t put in a whole onion…maybe 1/3 of a very large red onion. Instead of milk I used lowfat buttermilk, which also added a nice flavor. Thanks so much for posting; it is absolutely a keeper!”

  • “I think I would have enjoyed this more if the onions were cut up smaller. I also added more salt and a dash or two or garlic. Thanks for posting.Tee”

  • “Delicious potatoes!I think next time I might add a little sour cream just to make them a little creamier. The flavor was excellent!”

  • “mmmm real comfort food!love the onion flavour, we like our mashed potatoes a little lumpy and with the skin on and it worked just fine. I will be making these again, thanks for posting!”

  • “I made these last night to go with roast beef.Wonderful recipe and my whole family loved them! Thanks!”

  • “I thought these potatoes were like steak house mashed potatoes – excellant!!! The only changes I made was to use a quarter cup sour cream and a quarter cup milk, and I used garlic pepper instead of plain pepper – they were a hit!!”

  • “This is one of my favorite types of mashed potatoes. And plus, the kids don’t even notice the oninons mixed in. LOL”

  • “The addition of onion was nice for texture. I also left the peels on my potato cubes as we prefer them that way– a little chunky, which we called “smashed” instead of completely mashed smooth. I served Hamburger Gravy #15808 over these potatoes for a quick and filling meal.”
