This glassware is hand crafted utilizing an old world methods of etching called stone wheel engraving.
About the Engraving
Stone wheel engraving is an age old art kind of glass engraving that is not typically practiced in the world today. With newer innovations such as laser inscription, sandblasting, acid etching and machine engraving, stone wheel engraving has ended up being a passing away art. As a stone wheel engraver I hang out forming my wheel using diamond and stone dressing tools to produce various impacts on glass. Some I produce for a smooth surface area, some thick and some thin depending on what lettering and designs I’m inscribing. The carbundum wheels that I cut into the glass with are driven with a belt on a lathe that brings a variety of interchangeable spindles.
