Brilliant fire-engine red with noticeable black areas. Easily distinguishable poppy, one of my favorites.
Very simple to grow. To prevent self-seeding, seedpods must be chosen off prior to they develop and shatter. Self seeding annual, 12-18 & quot; & quot; tall.
Planting Directions: Direct seeding is more suitable, as poppies do not prefer to have their roots disrupted. Plant in the early spring when the soil is still cool and light frost is possible. Can also be planted in the fall prior to the ground freezes. Seeds will germinate in 10-15 days. Plants choose full sun and will endure poor soil
Seed Conserving Instructions:. Very easy for seed savers. When the flowers fade, a round seedpod is formed, turning from green to brown. Once the seedpod turns brown, cut off and enable to totally dry before splitting open and removing the numerous little sand-like seeds.
