    “This is another family favorite passed on from one of the “Sister’s” at church.”

    Ingredients

  • 4cupsflour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoonsbaking powder
  • 1teaspoonsalt
  • 1teaspoonbaking soda
  • 1 1/2 cupsbrown sugar
  • 3/4 cupshortening
  • 1cupmolasses
  • 1 1/4 teaspoonsginger
  • 3/4 teaspoonclove(optional)
  • 1/3 teaspoonnutmeg
  • 3eggs
  • 3/4 cupbuttermilk
  • Directions

  • Mix all ingredients and pour into a greased pan.
  • Add spices to suit your taste.
  • Bake 20 minutes at 350*.
