Southern Sweet Potatoes

    “There is no mistake! These do take that much sugar and butter. Very simple but really good.”

    Ingredients

  • 6sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4 ” slices( Red Garnet or yams)
  • 1/2 cupwater
  • 5cupswhite sugar
  • 1/2-1cupbutter
  • Directions

  • Rinse the potato slices in ample water and drain.
  • Place in a 2 qt covered saucepan and add the water, sugar, and butter.
  • Cover and simmer until very tender, about 30 minutes.
  • Do not stir during the cooking process.
