    “I lovingly adopted this recipe from Zaar. After making it I adjusted the ingredients a bit to give it more flavor and appeal. It is an easy meal to put together and tastes pretty good as well. I served it with buttered egg noodles and steamed broccoli. Everyone enjoyed it…. Happy Cooking!”

    Ingredients

  • 2lbslean ground beef
  • 8teaspoonsdehydrated onion
  • 2teaspoonsbeef bouillon powder
  • 1teaspoononion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonparsley
  • 1 1/2-2teaspoonsbrown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoongarlic powder
  • 1/2 cupquick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cupwater
  • 1/2 cupsour cream
  • 2largeeggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cupparmesan cheese, grated
  • Directions

  • Brown meat in a large skillet.
  • Drain off the excess fat.
  • Stir in next 8 ingredients.
  • Cover and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in the sour cream and eggs.
  • Spread the mixture evenly in an oven proof skillet or baking dish and then sprinkle the cheese over the top. Set under broiler until cheese turns a lovely color.
  • Serve with catsup, if desired.

  • “This is sooo good!! Tasted just like meatloaf without having to turn my oven on. I did have to add more water than the recipe calls for. I had either very lean hamburger or not verymoist because the hamburger was really dry. Not the fault of the recipe. I didn’t have Parmesan cheese, so I used Mozzarella cheese instead. I didn’tput it under the broiler because the color didn’t bother me. It melted just fine in the skillet. I sprinkled the cheese on top of the meat, put a lid on it and cooked it until the cheese melted. I had leftovers, so I made a meatloaf quesidella with it last nightI just added a couple of tablespoons of tomato soup to give it a little bit of moisture. It was really good!!! I love meatloaf, so I will be making this again. Thanks for sharing your recipe. Made for PAC Fall ’08.”

  • ” I hope that I am being fair – I would give it 2 for appearance and 4 for flavor. If I make this again I would after step 5 pour it into a baking dish sprinkle on the cheese and place it about 8″ from the broiler to brown the cheese and give it a nicer appearance.The bottom was a lovely color so when I put it on the plate the appearance improved but looking at it in the pan when it was ready to serve it was a very bland color.I like the flavor.Thanks for adopting this recipe Cheryl”

  • “Meatloaf is one of my all time favorites but in the summer I hate to heat up the oven.This will satisfy my craving.I did change a few things to make it taste more like my meatloaf.Instead of the dehydrated onions I used fresh, chopped fine, a little more garlic and I dont like oats in meatloaf so I used cracker crumbs.I also topped the skillet with the parm cheese and for the kids, some shredded cheese. (My kids will eat anything with cheese on it)! I will make this again when I dont want to heat up the house.Thanx SISTA Cheryl!”

  • “We liked this as well. I followed the recipe but I believe I will do as a previous poster did and use onion soup mix for a wee bit more flavour. I only gave 4 stars as it is hard for the family to part with the old school meatloaf.”
