    Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cupscoarsely chopped hulled strawberries
  • 1/2 cupsugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoonscornstarch
  • Directions

  • Bring all ingredients to a boil in a heavy small sauce pan, stirring constantly and crushing berries slightly with back of spoon.
  • Boil 2 minutes to thicken, stirring constantly (mixture will be slightly chunky).

My strawberries were frozen from my garden and were quite tart…even adding extra sugar didn’t help, so after making the original recipe I ended up adding a package of strawberry jello mixed with 1/4 cup of boiling water and a splash of corn syrup and that fixed the taste and added a little extra firmness from the jello.
