The Emotional Truth of PCOS

Be kind to yourself, don’t blame yourself, listen to your heart and to your body as they are the best indicators when trying to understand what the right choice is for you…

For those women who have been told that their bodies are not functioning properly as women, let me just say I hear you. It happened to me.

The first emotion most of us feel is just plain confusion, followed by an unnerving need to understand, then fear of what may never be; for most, that means the chance at having a family. Whether or not you want children, being denied eve the CHOICE to do can send nearly anybody into a spiral. Perhaps one of the most traumatic parts about being diagnosed with a disorder such as PCOS (PolyCystic Ovary Syndrome) is that most women are not afforded knowledge about its origins or how to heal themselves. While there are many medication options available, do we really want to be merely masking an issue so great and close to our hearts?  This decision alone is an extremely emotional one. The fear of not making the right decision and diminishing your chances to regain wellness… that is truly difficult.

But what I can tell you is that it does get better, as most things do. You may make a wrong decision when deciding the best way to heal, and guess what? That’s totally fine — there is another option waiting for you on the other side.

Be kind to yourself, don’t blame yourself, listen to your heart and to your body as they are the best indicators when trying to understand what the right choice is for you. Do not follow the others, because everybody is different. Don’t let anyone rob you of your hope. And most importantly, remember that no one can or should convince you of anything without your understanding it first. If you are diagnosed with cysts, ask for an ultrasound. If your blood work shows imbalance, read the results yourself. If you are not getting answers to your questions, find someone who WILL help. Standing your ground and standing up for your body will transport you from an emotional helplessness place to a becoming a powerful woman who demands control of her body, and questions anything.

Once you give it a try, you’ll soon notice that questioning and answering for self will appear in other aspects of your life. In other words, you’re becoming a major badass.

Love,

Nicole
