Traditional Wheat Bread
About This Recipe
“I got this recipe out of Taste of Home’s Quick Cooking and I absolutely love it! It is a favorite here at home. This bread comes out real soft and very tasty! I like to heat it up in the toaster oven or microwave and then put butter on top. Yum!”

“this is a great bread for toast and sandwiches.I give a loaf to my friends and they all call me the same day to say it’s wounderful.we all in the family like it so munch it’s all the bread we use.”
“I made this in the bread machine and WOW!I reduced the servings to 2 loaves and used the 2lb setting.Half the loaf is gone already.Very moist, much like store bought bread.Might be better if I add the salt next time :)This is one I’ll make over and over.”
“WOW! this bread is awesome! I’m eating warm bits of it as I type! The crumb is fluffy, the honey has a nice presence, and Its going to be a great base to play with. I used soy milk, because it was what I had on hand, and made 4 hand formed loaves in lieu of the bread pans. they turned out beautiful. I like my bread with color, so the toasting wasn’t a problem. I used my kitchenaid to knead it, and the raw dough was tasty too.It rose super fast, and took me slightly less to cook, but I’m also at high altitude. great recipe!”
“Got a Kitchenaid mixer for my birthday and decided to make this bread- turned out great – delicious! The mixer did all the kneading for me so it was so easy!”
“This is excellent bread. When I used margarine and salt in this recipe. I thought it was going to be too salty. But, turned out just perfect. Thank you so much, Maui-Dream.”
“I have made a few bread loaves before but they were always dry and not the right texture. This one is SOOO moist!I rubbed egg white on it before I cooked it, loosely put aluminum foil on the top for 30 minutes and then cooked it without the aluminum foil for about 8 minutes more.I eat it plain, no butter, that’s how great it is!I think it would be good for sandwiches too.”
“Absolutely delightful – as a first time ever bread maker, this recipe was easy to follow and produced amazing results. The resulting loaves are SOOO much lighter and purer in flavor than storebought – I used King Arthur Bread Flour, Bob’s Red Mill Organic Whole Wheat Flour and Wegmans All-Purpose Flour. The crust was nice and firm – resistant at first to cutting, but giving way to a nicely chewy inside. The wheat and honey flavors blend beautifully together – as noted, truly a delightful experience all around. Will definitely be making this recipe (as well as other breads) again. (And woe to my waistline).”
“This recipe is absolutely wonderful. I loved it!”
“This recipe had the honor of being my first homebaked loaf of bread with no help from my bread machine! It turned out fine, which means if a complete beginner can do well with this recipe, imagine what someone with experience could do!The bread has a nice wheaty-honey flavor and a nice texture.”
