“Sure and I tried some of these “wee treats” today.I love molasses and these hit the spot.I made a double batch and was careful about adding the milk, it didn’t require all of it.I converted the measurements from weight to volume.8 ounces flour=1 1/2 cups…..2 ounces butter=1/4 cup……1 ounce sugar=2 1/2 tablespns..Thanks for this great recipe Miller…Lee”
“Really good! My Scottish friend was talking about treacle scones, and I had to make some to give them a try:) Served warm with butter and homemade strawberry/cranberry jam. Thanks CoolMonday for providing measurement conversions! I also used recipe #5247. Worried that the salt in the recipe with the salt in the self-rising sub would be too much but it was fine. Used Lyle’s Black Treacle and my scones were much darker than the picture. If you’re subbing molasses, you need a heavier organic or blackstrap molasses to be most similar to black treacle, not the regular commercial brands like Grandma’s. I only needed about 3 1/2 oz. milk. Will make these again!”
“Very yummy, but the dough was so wet, even without all the milk.I ended up making drop scones instead. The taste was great!!!!I used cane syrup because that is what I had on hand. Will make again.”
“Another fast recipe that yields great results. These remind me of gingerbread but without the spices and less sugar.I had to bake mine for 7-8 minutes so they wouldn’t get too brown on the bottom.”
