These jocla long hoop earrings are created by me in the traditional native american way … heishi made with shells and turquoise together with 8/0 seed beads and copper heishi spacers are beaded on a special waxed string and connected to a copper ring.
Jocla/ Jacla’s were utilized as earrings but they would also hang them on their lockets. Jacla is Navajo for “ear string”. Although jaclas are attributed to the Rio Grande Pueblo Indians, they were traded with other tribes and became connected with the Navajo tribes as well.
Beading with this waxed string produces a best & quot; & quot; lay & quot; in the method these beads hang … they are actually malleable fit since of the waxed threading and then hang solid to that shape. I have them in a long narrow shape however you could make them into a more wider hoop shape if you like.
I really like the method these earrings feel so keep an eye out … I will be developing more of these to include to my store in lots of wonderful tribal native color patterns and mixes.
Length: approx. 3 1/2 & quot; consisting of the easy copper french ear wire.
