“My mom has made these my entire life with the addition of either sliced black olive or green olives, we love them!”
“I’ve made this twice and everybody loves it. The second time I substituted chopped pickles for the onion. It’s a life saver on a busy night.”
“Loved them. We omitted the onion and celery and used provolone cheese. So easy and quick. I will try the lemon pepper others suggested next time. Thanks!”
“These were pretty good but I would add some sweet relish to give it a bit more flavor. The onions seemed to overpower the whole melt so next time I will cut that amount in half.”
“These were good, but I think they would have been even better with the addition of some lemon pepper and some sweet pickle relish.I cooked mine in the micro until the cheese melted, and we enjoyed them for a cold winter’s lunch. Thanks for sharing.”
“I have been making these since I was a kid. My brothers loved them & now my husband and daughter do too! We all like to put potato chips in the cooked sandwich, it adds a nice crunch to the cramy filling.”
“Very Good! Easy to make and fulfilling! Thanks!”
“Really good stuff!I used onion buns (mmm) and went a little less on the celery and it was very tasty. Thanks for this recipe!Very easy and made excellent use of things I already had lying around!”
“We love these sandwiches.I’ve been looking for a good tuna melt because I have fond memories of eating them as a child.I did use pepperjack cheese for a little zip!Fantastic! Thanks for the great recipe!”
“Fixed these yesterday for lunch. We had unexpected company.Everyone loved them.I did add about 1/2 tsp. of lemon pepper, a dash of worcestershire sauce and some minced jalapenos for zing.Wonderful!”
“This is a GREAT recipe!I like to add some red pepper…. it seems to give it a good ZIPP!Thanks for the recipe!”
“Make these for lunch today and they turned out great!Didn’t have celery but added about a teaspoon of relish and a teaspoon of jarred chopped jalapeno peppers. Will definitely make again!”
“Mmm-mmm-mmm!! Just finished lunch.I left out the celery becuse I didn’t have any but I doubt it mattered. This was the BEST tuna melt I’ve ever eaten.I used (sesame seeded) deli soft hoagies-I also sprayed them with Crisco spray and then sprinkled some basil/garlic herb blend before wrapping them in the foil.Served with some Pringles select SUN-DRIED TOMATO flavored potato chips and a handful of ZESTY bread and butter pickles.I am in LOVE with this sandwich.DH cleaned his plate. THANK YOU jean1!”
“Made these last night and ate them for lunch today (heated them in the microwave for 30 seconds). They were really good. I didn’t add the celery as I don’t care for celery in my tuna. I was glad I read the reviews because I too thought there wasn’t enough mayo in the recipe. I left it as is and am glad I did. Thanks for a great recipe. Will be making again.”
