  • “I am asloppy baker — I didn’t measure. But it turned out terrific anyway!I was trying to double the recipe. Here’s what I did:1 stick (1/4 lb) butter, softened (That’s about 115 gm)spash of vanillamix powdered sugar till stiffadd hot water till right consistency.I was able to ice 24 cupcakes with those amounts. Both kids gave the icing a thumbs up.”

  • “This icing was just lovely and perfect! My daughter made if for some cup cakes she wanted to ice, and the icing really married well with the cup cakes.”

  • “I am sure this is a good recipe but i did not have icing sugar so I used granulated sugaar and the icing was not very good and it did not have a good texture and tasted to much like butter. Anyway it is probably my fault.”

  • “This was a really nice icing! I subbed coconut extract for the vanilla and iced Butter Pecan cupcakes with it!Yum!Thanks for the recipe!”

  • “My family agreed that this recipe had way too much butter, so if you are health conscious watch out.”

  • “i used this recipe for frosting cupcakes and it was great. it hardened perfectly and tasted great! i did use margarine and added a smidge more vanilla though. excellent, thanks.”

  • “Thanks for a great recipe. For those who like a stronger vanilla taste I would put a little more than 1 teaspoon…. but I was happy as it was.yum!!”

  • “This goes well with Granny’s Sugar cookie recipe I forgotthe number. It is very buttery and much like a thick glaze . I used 1/4 cup of Smart Balancebuttery blend. ( I have had no trouble in substituting this for butter in butter only recipes.) This is good for a change. Thanks!”

  • “Thanks for a great recipe.I didnt add the Vanilla but still tasted awesome.”

  • “This is such a nice simple icing, exaclty what I was looking for.I used it to ice a vanilla cake. One warning:wait until the cake cools to frost!I know this, as I decorate many cakes. This one, however, was just for my family, so I thought the only thing that might happen would be the icing might melt a little and drip.Oops! The butter separated and floated on top.Luckily, it was just us eating and still tasted great, just wanted to make sure everyone else knows never to frost a warm cake!!”

  • “I used margarine and added some extra icing sugar to thicken it a touch more. Very good and easy recipe. Thanks Dale”

  • “I have made this recipe before and it is quick and easy and does’nt taste too sweet. This recipe just made enough for me to ice a 9×13 cake in the pan. Thanks for submitting, Dale.”

  • “I love this! I baked a walnut cake in a bundt pan, and made this with only 1 TBS of hot water. This made the perfect thickness for spreading on top of the cake, it ran down the sides just enough. The vanilla flavor is very good. I will make this again! Thanks dale!”
