Vegetable soup

  • Ingredients

  • 2largeonions
  • 1/2-1cupmargarine
  • 2lbshamburger
  • 2cupsshredded cabbage
  • 2cupsdiced carrots
  • 2cupspotatoes
  • 2quartstomatoes
  • 3canstomato sauce
  • 2quartswater
  • pepper
  • 1/3 cupbarley
  • 1canpinto beans(optional)
  • Directions

  • Saute onions in margarine.
  • In seperate skillet saute hamburger.
  • Add to remaining ingredients in large stock pot.
  • Simmer until done.
  • May add frozen peas, corn and limas or any other vegetable you would like.
  • May be frozen.

I used 1 large onion, olive oil instead of margarine, two large cans of petite diced tomatoes, V8 juice for the tomato sauce, and chicken stock for the water.
