  • “You can view a list of the chili ingredients at Wendys official website. Just click on “nutrition facts”. According to it there are only kidney beans and chili beans in it. And in addition to the onion and green pepper it also calls for celery.”

  • “I must say, this is really a “fool proof” recipe!First of all, I didn’t have any bell pepper.I only had 1 can tomato sauce.I used the stewed tomatoes, pinto, kidney, and ranch style beans.I also used diced tomatoes, but didn’t have Rotel.I searched my cabinet to see what I could use for more tomato sauce, and saw some “no name beans in tomato sauce” that someone from Canada left here a couple years ago, so threw them in.(They were more like Pork and Beans, without the pork). I also didn’t have any chili seasoning, so I used a package of taco seasoning.I added 2 tablespoons of chili powder in hopes of making it taste somewhat like chili.I started it cooking on top of the stove, but, my pan kept burning, even though I added more liquid.I put it into the crock pot and decided to taste it at this point.Ate a small bowl,it was good!I cooked it in the crock pot for less than an hour while I made cornbread.Took out a bowl and that was the end of the cooking, it was great!I agree totally with”Love to Bake Dem Bones review onJul 18, 2009.I’ve worked in many restaurants in several states and that is exactly what they do and so much worse.I also worked in a brand new supermarket the day they opened.I worked in the bakery — all I can say is YIKES!I always told my kids, “If you have any doubts that your body is wonderfully made, just look at the people that eat in restaurants and from bakeries, that can still walk around!”Anyway, it is much better to make your own and this is a wonderful recipe!Thank you very much.”

  • “Nope I worked for wendy’s and made their chili. They use 1 large can of chili base, 1 large can of pinto beans, 1 med. size can of dark red beans (kidney beans) 1 pkg chili mix, onions and bell peppers, and the left over hamburger meat when the time expires on it at the grill. So instead of throwing it away they chop it up and put it into the chili.Yum!”

  • “This ISN”T Wendy’s chili clone.”

  • “I’m sure this recipe is delicious, but this is NOT Wendy’s recipe. Wendy’s is confirmed gluten free and McCormick’s packaged chili mix is NOT gluten free. There are other copycat recipes that don’t call for pre-mixed spice packets that are a much better choice for someone who needs a gluten-free chili like Wendy’s.”

  • “This is really fantastic.I used McCormick’s Hot Chili Powder as I love heat!Made the exactly as written.”

  • “Solid Chili Recipe here. You can tweak this to meet the expectations of your guests.”

  • “so i also worked there and what is actually in there is: the kidney beans and pinto beans, onion, bell pepper, hamburger meat, and wendys blend of chili seasoning. its actually alot easier than what this recipe says….”

  • “My family and I absolutely LOVE this recipe, I have made it multiple times already. I only gave it 4 stars because I make 2 changes I use stewed tomatoes with onions peppers and garlic in it instead of chopping up fresh and I use a can of Rotel tomatoes with jalepeno instead of plain. Thanks for the great recipe :)”

  • “This is my favorite chili recipe. I’ve made it several times and like to have leftovers on hand when I need something in a hurry. Sometimes I add more bell pepper. The last time I ate at Wendy’s, their chili tasted like it had been sitting on the warmer too long and had gotten to thick. This chili is much better than Wendy’s! A very quick and easy recipe and a staple at my house! Thanks for sharing, Misty!”

  • “”Love to Bake Dem Bones” is right about Wendy’s recipe. As the Base had other ingredients I would say recipe 45525 probably copies the taste more, but this one is by far the easiest and is so close most people would not notice the difference. The only thing I would add would be to mention Crockpot instructions Cook on Low for 6-8 hours. Thanks for a great one.”

  • “This is the easiest & best chili recipe that I have found. The only thing that I changed was to leave the Bell pepper out and to leave the Kidney beans out and to put in 2 1/2 Lbs. of ground chuck instead of 2Lbs. When the recipe called for Ranch style beans I put in Chili beans instead, I don’t know maybe they are the same? What I do is to brown the ground chuck on low heat coverd in a pot with the diced onion and McCormick chili seasoning mix (do not add any water to the seasoning mix), then do not drain, just add all othe other undrained cans and let simer for several hours. This is easy and great stuff. I always double the batch because it goes so fast.”

  • “This is a wonderful chili recipe and is so close to Wendy’s original it is surprising to me!!”

  • “I was looking for a super easy recipe to do Taco Salads with in the restaurant where I work. This one in particular hit me for the shear simplicity of the recipe.I love it!Customers love it, and it’s econimical!Oh, well, even the employees make a daily diet of it!It’s great anywhere you could think of adding chili…..hot dogs, over rice, nacho topping, you name it.I don’t think my pantry will ever be without these “basic” ingredients again. Thanks! Not sure if it’s really “Wendy’s”.But it’s close enough, and suits my wallet and time on target!”

  • “The recipe is excellent and tastes very much like Wendy’s!I added just a little salt.I prepared it for a Chili-Cookoff at church and was 1st Runner-Up!!I’ve been asked to share it with friends. It will be my favorite chili recipe from now on.Thanks to Misty and her best friend for sharing.”

  • “I just made this recipe!! It’s Fantastic!! It does taste similar to Wendy’s except to me, it’s a little better!! Variations:I used canned great northern beans instead of the ranch style beans listed.I did that because I already had a can of northerns in my cabinet and would have had to buy the ranch style (not sure I’d ever even heard of ranch style beans before).I also omitted the pintos.I used two packages of chili seasoning instead of the 1 listed (I used an off brand and it worked great). As far as additions I did end up adding about 3 teaspoons of sugar which almost ended up to be much but it was just right!!I also added a few diced cilantro!!! If you’re looking for just a basic chilli recipe, this is the one!!!BON APPETTIT!!”
