Metals are raw, without lacquer. Tags/pendants are treated with Renaissance Wax, a micro crystalline wax polish that provides a temporary protective layer to help the metal to maintain the desired finish for a longer time. Unlike plated jewelry (plated layer eventually wears off) raw metals will retain their original luster if polished regularly. ANTIQUED COPPER PLATED items are made from a thin layer of antiqued copper electroplated over other metals (typically steel, zinc or iron). To protect the plate, lacquer will be applied, allowing the antiqued brass to maintain its color. Plating will have a much shorter lifespan, and the thin layer of plating will deteriorate over time.
