remarkably Gorgeous Classic Amerik K & L Gold Electroplate Chandelier Earrings!
Amerikaner started operations in 1869. The exact age of these earrings is unknown; nevertheless, the company produced gold electroplated lever back pierced earrings during its early years set with precious and semi-precious stones. I think these earrings to be from the Art Nouveau period– the first couple of years of the 20th Century (approximately 1910). They are signed & quot; & quot; Amerik & quot; and & quot; K & L & quot;. The details I gained from investigating the business was that the origin of the K & L trademark is unknown. The K & L mark is frequently found on their linked chains and see fobs. This company later became referred to as the Speidel Business– makers of the popular expansion watch bands.
Please keep in mind the heavy gold electroplate granulation simulating that of Etruscan gold granulation.
The earrings are set with 4mm sapphire stones. I was able to determine that the stones are not glass, however as I am not a gemologist, I do not know if they are natural or synthetic sapphires. Because they are little stones and embeded in gold electroplate instead of karat gold, I did not take them to a jeweler for appraisal
