Cabbage Casserole

    “This stuff is FANTASTIC !!! Like Lasagne with Cabbage instead of the pasta. My youngest son doesn’t like cooked cabbage but LOVES this. You can also prepare this nicely in a crockpot.”

    Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground pork or 1 1/2 lbsbeef
  • 1mediumonion, chopped
  • 1dashgarlic powder
  • 1dashoregano
  • 32ouncesspaghetti sauce
  • 1/4 cuprice
  • 1dashbasil
  • 1headcabbage
  • 1lbmozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Directions

  • Shred, boil 3 minutes and drain cabbage.
  • Brown onion and meat and Drain.
  • Place cabbage in casserole dish.
  • Place meat mixture on cabbage.
  • Add garlic powder, oregano and basil on meat.
  • Add spag.sauce and rice.
  • Layer like you do lasagne.
  • Top with cheese.
  • Cover and bake 1 hour at 350F degrees

  • “My husband and I loved this dish!!I did change several things (I had to make due with what I had) but it was still great.I did not have ready made spaghetti sauce so I made a semi-homemade sauce with 1 can stewed tomatoes (chopped) and one can petite cut tomatoes with garlic and olive.I also used a blend of Italian spices instead ofwhat the recipe called for.Finally, I did not use the cheese (to cut down on the fat).I can only imagine how good this tastes with the cheese!!My husband is not a fan of cabbage or tomatoes and he ate three large helpings of this recipe.We will definitely put it on our healthy eating list and make it again.Thanks!!”
