These owls are made in phases. They begin as clay and are cast into a mold and fired at high heat to form bisque. Then it is painted and embellished with paint and/ or glaze, again to go through the kiln and fired a 2nd time to a greater temperature so the glaze will develop. It takes approximately another 24-HOUR to cool.
* While in the kiln a few of the speckles can pop and land inside the mugs or sometimes on another mug. We call those happy-accidents including more proof that these are among a kind!
