This one is pastel blue with one big crow in flight. Image on both front and back. There is likewise a tiny crow on the thumb rest.

Here is another decal transfer mug from my studio. This design has a story. We purchased a little house in California which was integrated in an old walnut orchard. The crows want to collect here in winter and one night pertained to sit in the tops of the trees. I like crows and ravens, they being one of my totem animals, so I photographed them. Then putting them into a picture program on the computer system, I made them into decals. This is my third design from those pictures, on an additional big 16 oz. mug.
I hand formed this mug with the slab technique. It is glazed and fired in my kiln to over 2200 deg. F. My other half and I think up ideas and assemble the images necessary. They are water slide decals from an HP Laser Jet printer. The distinct thing about the ink is it includes iron oxide (commonly referred to as rust) which when used in glazes on spots leaves a beautiful sepia brown to red color. When fired in the kiln, they enter into the glaze.
