Décor Inspiration: Cabin Getaway
Décor Inspiration: Cabin Getaway
With this month’s catalog, and our trip to Vancouver, we got to thinking, “what would the perfect Free People cabin decor look like?” It’s no secret that our store design team is supremely talented, and so when we presented them with the challenge, they dreamed up a getaway like you’ve never seen before.
It all started with the guests’ beds. We wanted to make them feel like the epicenter of this special getaway. Our design team got to embellishing old army blankets with sequins and pink trim from their travels. Overhead, wall hangings were made to catch dreams, and as a supreme welcome, fresh flower mandalas were laid across each comforter. We filled FP totes with small surprises, and created individual camping badges for each FP Me girl.
The cabins we decorated with small touches throughout. Fresh flowers brightened spaces all around. We clipped them short and placed them in rustic camping mugs, and we kept them tall, filling elegant glass bottles. Thick camping blankets were plentiful as well. We laid them across the tops of couches, and put them into neat little piles to amp up the cozy. Our design team customized old vintage thermoses to go around, we painted brightly colored mandalas on rocks, and tea lights were placed into mason jars for finishing touches.
Then came the dinner. This was the wow moment of the trip – when FP Me girls climbed the stairs to our back veranda and were taken aback by the Sunshine Coast-inspired setup. Our amazing store design team pre-hand-dyed linens, giving us the perfectly natural tone to start off. We collected driftwood from a kayaking trip down shore, and placed them on the table interwoven with fresh local flowers, more painted rocks, and small white candles. In between were the place settings. We laid the custom napkins directly on top of each plate, and finished it off with a seashell or rock holding down water-colored name cards for each guest; the name cards added that perfect dose of a signature Free People hot pink. Overhead, globe lights lit up the night like fireflies, maintaining a magical glow for the evening. Each chair was embellished with a neon garland to keep things fun.
Overall, it was a magical trip filled with beautiful settings. It doesn’t take a lot, just a few thoughtful touches to take a cabin getaway to the next level. How would you all spice up your next getaway?
