DIY Peppermint & Lemon Foot Scrub
DIY Peppermint & Lemon Foot Scrub
Our feet carry us through life, they connect our divine energy back to the earth and keep us rooted to the ground… isn’t it about time we return the favor?
My feet are probably the last thing I think about when it comes to my beauty routine, until of course it’s time to slip on a pair of open-toed shoes or step barefoot onto a beach, and then I’m reminded, harshly, of their existence. But that’s something I’m trying to change. Most of us are coming to the end of a long hot summer, likely spent — at least in my case — entirely in Birkenstocks. As you ready your wardrobe for cozy socks and cool boots, take some time to nurture your tired feet too – they’ll certainly appreciate it.
This all natural foot scrub will leave your feet feeling fresh and completely renewed. It contains cooling peppermint, which aids in pain relief and has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, and healing lemon peel to help soften skin. Even better, it only takes about five minutes to whip up.
Peppermint & Lemon Foot Scrub
Makes about 1 1/4 cup
Ingredients:
1 cup coarse sea salt
1/4 cup organic jojoba oil
1/4 cup organic almond oil
10 drops peppermint essential oil
Zest of 1 organic lemon
Zester or cheese grater
Medium mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
8 oz. resealable glass container (I found mine at the craft store)
Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl, place the zester or cheese grater over top and zest the lemon.
Stir with the wooden spoon until well mixed. Transfer to the glass container and store in a cool, dark place. Because the ingredients are completely natural, this is best kept refrigerated and used within two weeks.
To use: soak your feet in warm water for at least 10 minutes, then use a pumice stone or your hands to rub in the salt scrub, concentrating on any rough areas. Rinse and pat dry with a clean towel.
