Snake bone and spiral earrings mobilizing old times in Crete, and the Minoan culture’s rich ritual life. Cults of snake praise, priestesses adorned with hoops and spirals of gold, the imagery embellishes the walls and mosaics of the ruins of this ill-fated and, till really recently, forgotten land.
The 3rd photograph in this listing shows the famous Minoan priestess statue which influenced this design.
Hand sculpted white calcite beads like ancient marble are the stylized statuary of tiered skirts of the Minoan priestesses, and a faceted orange coral bead hails the sea below the Temple at Knossos. Hand forged brass spirals are mounted by genuine snake vertebrae and Aegean blue Czech picasso glass beads.
Hand forged brass ear wires. All wire is square raw brass.
Measure 2 3/4″ from top of ear hook.
