Make: Pumpkin Spice Sugar Body Scrub

A festive body scrub recipe just in time for fall…

I have to be honest with you –I’ve already had pumpkin pie this year. It could not wait until Thanksgiving. Thank god my 8 1/2 month pregnant sister was having an undeniable craving for homemade pumpkin pie and, like a good big sister, I wholeheartedly supported her in satisfying her appetite’s desire. I would, of course, be there by her side to partake in said pumpkin yearning.

Since the pumpkin dabble last month, I have noticed a craving of my own. Because eating pumpkin pies and drinking pumpkin lattes all season long would surely wreak havoc on my health, I have had to find alternate ways to appease my itch. This pumpkin sugar body scrub satisfies that craving and leaves me with soft skin. It increases circulation, which may help reduce signs of cellulite, and evens out skin tone. The texture of the brown sugar wipes off old dead skin cells to reveal new bright and soft skin. (I like to rub a little on my lips when they are feeling dry and chapped.) Pumpkins are rich in zinc and vitamins C and A, and is chock full of antioxidants and enzymes. The scrub is soothing, moisturizing and safe enough for all skin types.

Ingredients for 2-3 uses. Cut recipe in half for 1 use.

1 cup organic brown sugar

2 tbsp cooked organic pumpkin puree

2 tbsp coconut oil

1 tsp cinnamon

Add sugar to mixing bowl. Mix in the pumpkin puree and coconut oil. Add cinnamon and stir until blended. If it is too runny, add more sugar. Apply to the body using circular motions and rinse off completely.

If you have extra, store in a mason jar and keep refrigerated until next use. This also makes a great gift!
