Monday Inspiration: The More You Do It, The More You’ll Know It
With practice comes perfection — a lesson in mastery, Photoshop, and always striving to learn as much as possible.
Sometimes it’s the hardest of challenges that empower us to grow and learn.
I came across this quote the other day, and it got me thinking about the first time I ever opened up photoshop. I wasn’t enrolled in a class, or had anyone else guiding me. So well do I remember the overwhelming feeling I got when I took my first dive into learning the program. If someone could have taken a snapshot, it would have been 17 year old me, in my room, staring at my computer with jaw dropped and eyes peeled. I had NO idea what I was doing. At that stage, figuring out how to even open up an image file to edit was foreign business. So many times I opened up that program, but would immediately close it because of the frustration I felt over not knowing what to do next. I knew what I wanted my pictures to look like, but didn’t have the slightest inclination on where to start.
“The more you do it, the more you’ll know it.”
So I practiced, everyday, until I started to feel comfortable. I’d learn something new every time I opened up the program. No way was it fun in the beginning, but eventually I got there. Flash forward to now, and the high school hobby I picked up is now in my job description. Didn’t plan that, but life has a funny way of working out the way it’s supposed to.
This summer one of the items on my bucket list is to learn something new… pick up a new hobby. I know for a fact that overwhelming feeling is going to find it’s way back around, but instead of shying away, it’s more important to use it as a tool. Let it empower, and drive the mind down a path of curiosity. The more you do it, the more you’ll know it, and the more the mind will be full with new knowledge.
