Once in a Blue Moon – size 9 1/2 – moonstone, onyx and sterling silver ring by spiralstone
270,00 USD
the modern definition of a blue moon is when there are two moons in one month, the next one happening in July 2015. Nevertheless, generally a blue moon is when there are 4 full moons in a season instead of the normal three (or when there were 13 in a year). Many cultures called the full moons monthly to reflect the times for planting, collecting or seasonal conditions. When there was an extra moon in a season it was referred to as a blue moon.
No matter exactly what definition we may use, I made this ring as a tip that what sometimes appears impossible, can in fact happen.
I have handmade this ring from 100 % recycled sterling silver. I have eliminated silver stages of the moon and soldered them to the ring, and set a faceted onyx to represent the dark moon and 2 lovely faceted rainbow moonstones to represent the 2 complete moons. The moonstones shine in lovely shades of blue as they catch the light. I have offered the ring an oxidized satin/ brushed, hand polished surface.
The back (band) of the ring is 16mm broad, the front of the ring is 58mm (2 1/4 inches) long, and the ring is a size 9 1/2. It will be a tight fit due to the width and length of the ring, for a comfy fit you may need to wear it on a middle finger and a finger that is a 1/2 to a full size smaller sized than a size 9 1/2.
