This is among the most troubling and gorgeous pieces I’ve ever had. This pendant/ brooch stands for the Hopi Morning Singer Kachina, the one that awakens the town by singing from the roofs. The amount of detail in this piece is amazing, from the fragile repousse around the lower jaw to the incised lines marking the feathers of the headdress, and the flawless method the head has actually been formed. The pendant with pendant weighs 38 grams, and the pendant/ brooch is 30mms tall by 41mms wide, or 1 5/8 broad by 1 3/16 inches tall. The chain, unmarked however tested favorable for sterling, is a thick snake with hook closure, determining just a hair over 3mms wide by 41.91 centimeters or 16 1/2 inches long, not including the hook. The pendant is signed with the initials MB. on the back along with sterling. The closest in want to this signature was Marc Begay who is Navajo.
