The home of the Laelia gouldiana is Mexico. The leaf stems are long, oval and bear 2 leaves. The flower stalk can be 18 inches long and bears 3 to six blooms about 4 inches across.The sepals are narrow nad the petals are wide and dark pinkish red in color. The labellum is trilobate and dark reddish-mauve with yellow veins. The plant flowers in December and January.
