  • “This cake has in the year since I first made it become required for me to be invited to a family function. It is decadent but not overly sweet. It stays moist and I find that I like a bit more of the almond extract. For birthdays a basic cream cheese frosting compliments it perfectly. Thank you for posting this recipe.”

  • “Another winner from Marg. Your recipes never disappoint. I made this as an extra to take to a baby shower that I attended. The guests went crazy for this delicious cake. It was wonderful, moist, tender, rich, light, fluffy and very tasty. I used a chocolate ganache to frost this treat and found that it didn’t need anything else. Thanks for sharing another wonderful chocolate cake recipe.”

  • “My friends never would have guessed i had not spent hours on this cake. I grew up eating something similar with strawberries and ganache “

  • “I wanted to make a chocolate cake and this recipe caught my eye. I had already started pouring and mixing when I realized I only had about 1/2 a cup of sour cream. All I had in my fridge was one vanilla yogurt and one blueberry. I added enough of the yogurt to maketwo cups, reduced the melted butter to 1/2cup ( I had 5 XL eggs), baked it for 65 minutes. After it cooled I dusted it with powdered sugar and ohhhhhh, so good. Thank you Marg for the wonderful recipe. I will make this again, and next time I will follow the recipe :)”

  • “Everyone loves when I make this cake and they actually request that I make it at any chance! I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out wonderfully!”

  • “Ok, all I had was a triple chocolate cake mix so I used that instead of devil’s food and it was so great! I frosted the cake with a white chocolate almond frosting and added toasted almonds and dark chocolate curls as a garnish and everyone LOVED it!!! I have decided that I am going to use this basic recipe whenever I do a box cake from now on. (Except I won’t add choc. chips if it’s a lemon or strawberry, etc. and I’ll play around with puddings and extracts) It is so rich and it tastes like cakes I’ve made from scratch. Thanks for the recipe and I will definitley be busy trying all kinds of different flavors!”

  • “excellent!! I only had a 1 1/2 C. of sourcream so I added in 4oz of cream cheese. It was wonderful.. next time I’m going to add in 8 oz. of cream Cheese. This recipe is very easy to make and turns out great!! Very very rich… my sister and I ate half of it wishing we had ran to the store to get icecream! “
