CMJ & The Wild Honey Pie
This weekend will be my first time every getting a taste of New York City’s version of SXSW: CMJ Music Marathon. CMJ is many things – a community of music lovers, a digital destination for music discovery, a printed publication (CMJ New Music Report), and a network of artists and industry professionals who collaborate on events, and of course the annual music marathon – the largest and longest-running music industry event of its kind. From October 21st through 25th, over a thousand artists will flood the city, playing a variety of intimate sets and larger events hosted at venues all over Manhattan and Brooklyn.
One event that’s at the top of our list? The Wild Honey Pie Presents The Beehive & 5th Birthday Bash. If you aren’t familiar with Wild Honey Pie, I urge you to check them out – based in Brooklyn, they’re an online publication and events promotion collective who throw lots of fun events and host awesome music sessions. We’ll be there with our girl Zella Day, who we’re incredibly excited to be working with on a special project coming soon – stay tuned!
Also on our list – the New Shapes showcase at Santos Party House, and a couple of showcases hosted by our friends Willow Wood – one at The Delancey co-hosted by Atypical Beasts and one at Arlene’s Grocery with Siren Sounds.
If you have recommendations for other CMJ events we should check out, please let us know!
