  • About This Recipe

“When my dad passed away, someone brought this to the house. My son loved this so much, I was glad to be able to get the recipe.”

    Ingredients

  • 6 -8boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 -8sliceslorraine swiss cheese
  • 2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10 1/2 ounce) cans water
  • 1 (7 1/2 ounce) packages stuffing cubes
  • 1/2-1cupbutter
  • Directions

  • Put the chicken breasts in a 9×13 inch glass baking dish.
  • Put a slice of Lorraine cheese on each piece of chicken.
  • Mix the soup, water and stuffing together (I add only as much stuffing as I think it needs- I don’t always add the whole bag as I’,m afraid it will be dry. Usually I add about 3/4 of the bag.) Pour the stuffing mixture over the chicken.
  • Melt the stick of butter and drizzle over the top.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour at 375 degrees F.
  • I like the onion and sage stuffing myself and this is what i used.

  • “Awesome..comfort food at its best!”

  • “This is a very good, easy to make casserole! I used 98% fat free soup and chicken broth instead of the butter, as I needed to cut the calories a bit ;)A great result from few ingredients and a small amount of time! Thanks for posting this.”

  • “I thought this was good.Perfect fall/winter comfort food.I used a half of cup of butter, but I think the next time I make it, I will omit the butter, and use chicken broth instead. Will make again.Thank you for sharing.”

  • “made this use lower sodium soup didnt use any butter at all. like the crunchy top but was thinking of useing low sodium chicken broth to moisten th top instead of butter. sprinled poultry seasoning on the top”

  • “*Made for PAC Spring 2007*The swiss cheese was a very flavorful addition to this dish. I had 3 very large chicken breasts so I halved the recipe. I would still recommend using the full 2 cans of cream of chicken soup as some of my stuffing mix was not submerged and got crunchy. All in all my DS and DH gave this a thumbs up, and I thought it was great. Thanks for sharing. Nick’s Mom”

  • “We really enjoyed this, as did our company. The swiss cheese gives it an extra flare of flavor.I thought even the 1/2 cup of butter was unnecessary. This will be a repeat in our house. Thanks!”
