Dishwasher Salmon
About This Recipe
“Seasoned Cooking April 1999 Issue. A Fool’s Delight, by Philip R. Gantt. This is an actual recipe from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Cookbook. It is unusual and although I haven’t yet tried it, it seems like an innovative idea.”

“Although others mention how this is not green, I will say that out of fun and curiousity we tried it once. Yes, it is a lengthy process to cook a piece of fish but it is fun and a neat thing to show the kids. Sorry to those of you whe are upset from this little experiment. It was worth the try.”
“It’s an EXTREMELY “ungreen” method of preparing fish.Like another poster stated this recipe is very OLD.I think I first heard of this about 35-40 years ago on TV.Never tried it.”Unique” was the only word that ever came to mind for me regarding this “recipe”.”
“I havent tried this but it seems like an expensive way to cook salmon – that takes just minutes on the stove top.”
“I don’t think I will ever try this recipe either(unless in a brand new unused dishwasher) ;however, I saw this this past week on one of the morning news shows- GMA or The Morning Show. Not sure which, but the chef that presented it said it was fabulous!”
“The first time I heard about cooking a fish in the dishwasher it had been featured on a television show… it was Galloping Gourmet, or Julia Child, or Vincent Price had done it on some show he was on.I was quite young, and don’t recall.I decided to finally try it out.:)Instead of salmon I had a nice fresh white carp, but otherwise followed the recipe. I put the fish through the full cycle (no soap!) and it was steamed nicely, but wasn’t quite as done as we would’ve liked.Finishing it off in the oven worked fine. Thanks for the fun experiment!”
