DIY Cabin Wall Hanging
Last week, I shared the decor created for our FP Me Sunshine Coast retreat, and now this week, I’m going to show you how to make those beautiful wall hangings that we hung above the beds. We used a lot of found materials for these, so for those of you who want to replicate the hangings at home, it’s really about finding materials that are personal and enjoyable to you. We recommend something bright and fun to cheer up a beautiful space. We used neon accented garland and paper flowers with pops of color to keep our cabin spaces feeling happy.
What You Need:
- A twig (choose any size you’d like)
- Scrap fabric
- Scrap garland or beaded string
- Fake flowers
- Wire
- Glitter string
- Scissors
- Wire cutters
Directions:
1) Make a loop of wire for your hanging and secure it at both ends of the stick. This is where the piece will hang from.
2) At random points, wrap some glitter fabric around your stick and tie off.
3)Rip your scrap fabric into long strips about 1/2” thick.
4) Fold strips in half, and pull the loose ends through the loop to secure them around the stick.
5) From one end of the stick to the other, tie garland at varying heights, so that they swoop in front of the strips of scrap fabric.
6) Wrap wire around the back of your fake flowers, leaving small extensions on either side. Use the extensions to wrap around where the hanging wire you first affixed meets the stick. This will hide the joint between wire and wood that you made previously. And you’re done!
